Louis Droge Construction was founded 35 years ago by Louis Droge. After 34 years of great craftsmanship, Louis retired leaving his legacy to Jason Droge, his son. Jason has since partnered with Kyle Davis.

Together, Kyle and Jason have decided to turn the residential building market upside-down. Not only do they offer their trade mark New-Old House theme but they have become one of the few companies in Northeast Kansas committed to being green.

With the new outlook on building, they have decided to analyze the company and the entire building process. They started with the name.

Shakespeare asked, “What’s in a Name?” Naming your child is very important and renaming a 35-year-old company can be just as nerve racking. Unfortunately there aren’t any Top 100 Business Name books. The name had to portray their new image and leave no doubt what they stood for.  Footprint is the name they agreed upon. It actually holds more than one meaning.

Carbon Footprint is the amount green house gasses we emit. A green footprint is taking action on your carbon- making smarter decisions from design-to-build. This should be the easiest to do but the hardest to get people to incorporate.

The deeper meaning involves your legacy: what you want to leave behind. Something that has been lost over the years is your home. Families used to be proud of their homes. Many times it was because they helped build them. It was an honor to have a house passed down through the generations. Our custom homes are named by the owner’s last names, not because it’s logical but because it’s what the house is all about.  If you build a home that the owners are proud of, there’s no reason they would want to get rid of it. The Footprint you leave behind should be small towards the environment, but there’s no reason you can’t leave a big legacy. So what’s in a name? Carbon, green, or legacy. Footprint stands for all three. Its real meaning lies in the future of their clients and the homes they build.

From a simple name, a company has been reborn. You should never forget your past; it is what makes you who you are today. Footprint Construction will learn from any mistakes in the past, continue their core values, and build for future generations.
